Obituary of Gregory Alan Herzer

Please share a memory of Gregory to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gregory Alan Herzer, 61, of Fort Worth, Texas peacefully passed on March 2, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born in Fort Worth on October 9, 1959 to Mary Ann and Joseph R. Herzer. Greg was the youngest of 3 brothers. Greg graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1983. He worked as a manager in retail and in the restaurant industry for several years finally owning his own store in Benbrook. He finished his career working in disaster recovery. This allowed him to travel extensively both in the States and abroad, which he enjoyed. He was part of the recovery efforts after hurricanes Sandy, Katrina and Ike. Greg loved to golf, especially with his dad and friends from high school. He possessed a dry wit that produced many good times to those around him and will miss his humor. His goal was to retire and live on a sailboat. However, when his parents suffered from several illnesses, he stepped in to care for them. When possible, he would drive them on trips across the country or to the casinos. Greg is survived by his parents, his brother Joseph and wife Martha, brother Fred and wife Michelle, nieces Ashley Seher and her husband Chris, and Amanda Herzer, and nephew Stephen Herzer, as well as many in his extended family. In addition, he had great friends, neighbors and caregivers who were extremely helpful during his illness, especially those from his high school graduation class of R.L. Paschal, 1978. They provided meals, constructed a wheel chair access ramp and much care and love. In lieu of flowers a donation to the ALS Association is appreciated
