Obituary of Dennis Michael Hughes

Father and son of Christ, Dennis M. Hughes joined the kingdom of his Savior on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the age of 62.

Dennis was born on September 26, 1962, to Marjorie Ackroyd “Honey” and Bobby Frank Hughes “Big Poppa.” He graduated from Southwest High School in Fort Worth and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Tarleton State University.

Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting Dennis knows of his infectious passion for helping others, his loving spirit, his understanding nature, and most importantly to him, his fierce love for his faith and his children. Dennis enjoyed volunteering at his church, Casa Mañana, and the Tarrant County Food Bank, playing pickleball, and riding his motorcycle.

Dennis will be honored and celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Como First Missionary Baptist Church, 5228 Goodman Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Services will be led by his beloved friend and brother in Christ, Pastor Kenneth Jones Jr.

Bible Verse Proverbs 20:7 - "The righteous man who walks in his integrity, blessed are his children after him."

He is survived by sons, Dustin Broussard and wife Andi, and Bobby Cameron Hughes; daughter, Taylor Hughes; grandson, Gregory; granddaughters, Milly & Marlee; mother of children, Lisa O’Neal Hughes; mother-in-law, Gayle O’Neal; brothers, Richard “Rick” Hughes, and Randall “Randy” Hughes; sisters, Sheryl “Sherry” Hughes, and Kimberly “Kim” Hughes; along with many nieces, nephews, and his Como First Baptist Church family.
