Obituary of Roberta Carter

Please share a memory of Roberta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Roberta Mae (Jennings) Carter, 87, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, after a short stay in the hospital in Fort Worth, TX and a 50-year battle with sarcoidosis. The family is strengthened by knowing that Buddy and Roberta are together again in Heaven and knowing they now have another guardian angel.

Roberta was born July 5, 1937, in Blair, Oklahoma to Robert and Dorothea Jennings. She was married to her sweetheart and forever love, Donald Elmer ‘Buddy’ Carter for almost 62 years. She missed Buddy every day after his passing. Roberta was an educator for over 50 years in both public and private school districts. She served as the Dyslexia Coordinator for both Arlington and Fort Worth ISD even after she officially retired as a classroom teacher. After retirement, she continued tutoring children with dyslexia and helped teach her great-grandchildren. Her great-grandson, Maddox said, “Now Grandmom can teach kids in Heaven!” She had a passion for literacy and helped countless children learn to read and be successful in the classroom. Roberta loved gardening, taking care of the pecan trees, spending time and traveling with her family, and loving her dogs. Roberta was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma for over 30 years.
