Obituary of Donald Keith Jones
Donald Keith Jones of Weatherford, TX, passed away Aug. 15, 2024. Don was born in San Antonio, TX, Feb. 24, 1953, to Cecil and Stella Jones.
He was a beloved husband, father, friend, and Marine Corps veteran who served our country with honor from 1970 to1974. Don’s dedication to his family, friends, and community touched countless lives, and he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Don was a man of many passions and boundless curiosity. His intellectual curiosity about the world was matched only by his genuine care and interest in everyone he met. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, always eager to learn their stories and share his own wisdom.
A devoted educator, Don had a profound love for teaching, reading, writing, photography and the symphony. His enthusiasm for these pursuits was infectious, inspiring those around him to explore and appreciate the beauty of knowledge and creativity.
He had a long career as a photojournalist in the US and in war zones, including Nicaragua, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Later in life, he earned his master’s degree at the University of North Texas. He taught photojournalism there and at Tarlton State University and was very proud of his many students that went on to successful careers.
Don’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and a relentless pursuit of understanding. He leaves behind a family who adored him, friends who cherished his companionship, and a community that will forever be grateful for his contributions.
As we celebrate Don’s life, we remember the joy he brought into our lives and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. Rest in peace, Don. Your spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
