Obituary of Scotty Gene Grizzle
Scotty Gene Grizzle, 70, passed away on January 10, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born on May 3, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Scotty Monroe Grizzle and Jackie Joy Grizzle. Scotty is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Grizzle; beloved sister, Katharine Scott; sons, Rob Grizzle and Eric Grizzle; as well as a large, loving extended family, including grandson Owen Worley and granddaughter Ana Worley, both of whom brought him immense joy. He was preceded in death by sister, Paula Taylor. At the time of his passing, Scotty lived with his wife Brenda in Fort Worth, Texas.
Scotty was raised in Irving, Texas, and graduated from Nimitz High School (Class of 1972). He displayed a passion for music at a young age, and it was a passion that never diminished. In high school, he played saxophone in both the Nimitz High Band and the Nimitz Jazz Band. For a time, he continued his study of music at North Lake College. Most of the varied jobs he heldthroughout the remainder of his life were centered around music in one way or another.
As many do, Scotty spent years struggling with addiction; however, unlike so many less fortunate, it was a battle he ultimately won, and he lived out the remainder of his life in recovery. Scotty was fierce in his commitment to supporting others who, like him, were desperately seeking to get their lives back on track.
To honor Scotty, a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Thompson & Son Funeral Home, located at 6009 Wedgwood Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76133.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of Scotty be made to LinkED (a Fort Worth-based nonprofit organization that supports families of individuals with learning differences and disabilities).
Please join us in celebrating the life of Scotty Grizzle, and please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this time of mourning and remembrance.
