Diann Newhouse, 64, passed away on Christmas morning surrounded by her family. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday at Southwest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 5300 Alta Mesa Blvd. Diann Newhouse was born January 27, 1951 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Uriah and Blanche Newhouse. She is the youngest of six children born to her parents. Diann attended schools in Fort Worth. At the age of 18 she moved to Detroit, Michigan where she lived for several years. She eventually moved to the Washington, D.C. area where she lived for over 30 years. While living in Washington, D.C. she spent time with her sister and her family and she made many friends. While in the Washington, D. C. area she worked in several different areas in the food and restaurant industry. Diann loved her family and friends. She was always available to help with nieces and nephews and her friends' children. She also loved music and sharing pictures of her family. Diann always kept a private collection of family photos that she took with her everywhere. She was very proud of her family even if she got upset with them at times. Diann loved all of her siblings. However, she formed a special bond with her surviving sisters. She always said that they were like a mother to her. Diann shared a special relationship with each of her sisters and she cherished them for their unique personalities. She lived with each them at some point during her lifetime. Diann always stated that she wanted two things. She wanted to pass away in Texas and she wanted to pass away before her remaining sisters. Diann always said that she was not strong enough to see her sisters pass away. She also loved her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She became especially close to her niece, Kenya, in the last year of her life while she helped her while living in the nursing home. Diann was adventurous, spirited and caring. She never met a stranger and if she did they would not be one for long. Diann loved sitting outside talking with friends and neighbors. She also knew everything that was going on in the neighborhood wherever she lived. Diann had a great sense of humor and she loved to laugh. She knew a lot about many things and she loved to talk on any subject with anybody. Diann was determined to live life on her terms, even though it caused many challenges in her life. However, near the end of her life Diann made peace with God. She also desired that her family would be at peace with one another. Diann believed that GOD had answered all of her prayers on Christmas Day. She finally went home to be with HIM on Christmas Day with a smile on her face. Diann was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Helen Knowles, brother, Billy Charles Newhouse and her sister Beverly Williams. Diann is survived by her aunt, Mary Earle of Compton, California, three loving sisters, Gloria Gardner and Wanda Newhouse of Fort Worth and Shirley Winston of Adelphi, Maryland.
